1. PLANNING
To date we have 100% success rate in achieving planning permission where required for our pods. Our skilled architects specialise in modular pod construction and design, so all our pods meet current new-build standards – which makes for a smoother planning and warrant process.
We can guide you seamlessly from the start of your project through this process, or we can work with your existing architectural plans – whatever you prefer.
As a guide, it typically takes 8-12 weeks to gain the appropriate permissions before construction can commence.
2. DESIGN
Urbanpods will design your pod(s) to your specification, from adding extras to a standard pod right through to creating a bespoke design to suit your needs and meet your budget.
This will start with a site visit initially, to assess any ground preparation work that may be required and check the suitability of the site for what you require. We will work with you on developing the design and you can be assured that our quotation service will include all considerations so that you won’t be hit with extra costs.
We will supply a 3d visual of your pod, within its setting – so you can see the exact position of the windows and doors relative to the space you have as well as the attributes requested from your initial brief or architectural project drawing.
Once you are happy with the designs and if you require permission, we would work with our architect or yours to set permissions in motion and get the green light to start manufacture and construction.
3. CONSTRUCTION
The actual build of our pods takes just two weeks, sometimes even quicker!
The pods are constructed at our facility in Livingston using the finest materials and modern, efficient and eco-friendly build techniques. We use ground screw foundations, so no concrete is required and very little ground preparation as a result. Our pods are so thermally efficient they have virtually no heat loss. We use sustainable wood cladding, and for each pod we build, we plant more trees in our tree grove.
The pods can be fully constructed at our facility and lifted by crane into position; or they can be partially constructed and brought to your site in sections ready for final assembly by our team. The chosen method is dependent on the size of the pod and access to the site.
4. RESULTS
